Last minute thoughts

In under 24 hours (18 hours actually) we will hopefully be on the road to Virginia! Here are a few random thoughts as we get ready to go:

* Rain has not helped us prepare. Saturday morning we will have to set up the camper, clean it, pack it & take it down all before we leave. It will be a busy morning. Thank goodness the water challenge is over & I can drink coffee!

* I'm 25 weeks pregnant already! It's going so quick! Baby is moving a ton and I'm feeling great, although the belly is starting to get in the way of things, like breathing and the refrigerator door, for example.

* My due date was Monday. I cried a lot. But I had lots of great support from Marc, my family and lots of friends. Thank you for helping me get through that day.

* I can't wait to someday own our own pop-up camper. That's about as luxurious as I will be able to convince Marc to go, which is fine with me. I grew up camping in a pop-up. Bring on the itty bitty sink, the popcorn sound as it rains and the sweet lights that will hang from the canopy. My friend Kara is letting us borrow her pop-up and it's loaded with everything we could imagine!

* Have I told you all that MARC IS DONE WITH CLASSES? Just in case I hadn't...

* Kerri will be moving in for the week while we are on vacation. Feel free to check in with her and offer her food. :)

* The week we get back
Monday: Memorial day & unpacking/cleaning
Tuesday: work - hopefully not too many emails!
Wednesday: Staff retreat day
Thursday: work/set up garage sale/Sang's graduation
Friday: Sang leaves in the morning/garage sale/youth group leader dinner

Whew - good thing I'm going to relax next week cause it gets busy again quickly! All good things though, all good things.

Okay, with that, I'm off to do more laundry and try to pack!

Adios!

Fast track to jelly belly

I had my 24 week appointment yesterday, which was fairly uneventful. On the way back to the room, I had my monthly stop at the scale and WHOA buddy. It topped off at 10lbs more than 4 weeks ago. Did you catch that? 4 WEEKS ago. I had a minor freak out moment after which the lovely nurse encouraged me to take off my shoes & sweatshirt . That brought it down to 7lbs which was a tad easier to swallow. A tad. I made the nurse give me 'official orders' to exercise more and eat healthier so we don't have this scenario each office visit. Then I called Marc to tell him my 'official orders' and enlisted his help. So this morning I walked around Reeds Lake and I'm trying to not eat all the sweets in sight today. Hopefully with the warmer weather Isaac and I will be outside more and much more active.

Other than my fast track weight gain, everything is looking good. I'm measuring right on for 24 weeks and have my glucose test next week. Yummy.

After my morning walk I hit up a few East GR & Alger Heights garage sales and got a few deals. Oh, and have I mentioned that I spent from 8:30am-3:00pm without Isaac? Don't get me wrong, I love my little man and enjoy (almost) every moment with him, but having a full morning and part of the afternoon childless is something that hasn't been done in, well, I don't know how long. Usually when I don't have Isaac it is because I have exchanged him for 20 middle school or high school students. AHH, I'm already LOVING having Marc don't with classes!!!

The Final Countdown

Less than 2 weeks before we leave for our first ever family vacation!!! Saturday, May 22 we will be packing up the mini-van, hooking up a borrowed pop-up and heading to Virginia!

We started dreaming about this long, long ago. We've always wanted to go away, but it's extremely hard with Marc's work/school schedule and money. This is the first summer since we've been married that Marc has not had summer school, and although he doesn't get paid for it, his work is letting him take a week off. WhooHoo! He's been working a lot of overtime to try to fill in the financial gap for this, but we both feel we need a week away to decompress after a crappy year.

We are staying at a state campground on the James river. We get to take a free car ferry across the river whenever we want to Williamsburg. We will be visiting Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens and got free passes to the water park too! We're also hoping to make a day trip to Virginia Beach and have a few afternoons/evenings just hanging out at the campground.

I'm not sure Isaac will know what to do having BOTH parents around ALL week at the SAME TIME! To be honest, I don't really care what all we do, I am just looking forward to being a family for a week.

Here's to 10 more days of work and then VACATION!!!!!

One Week

I just had the realization that a week from today is my due date for our little one that we lost over 6 months ago. :(

Being pregnant again has certainly helped me move forward from the grief, but there are still moments of wondering and questioning. I am still constantly praying for my dear friends who have also miscarried this year and are not pregant again. There's almost a little part of me that feels guilty for being able to conceive again so quickly. I want it to happen so badly for them.

Not much else to say, just a bit of a somber evening as I reflect a bit.
