a few of my favorite things...

It's been a while since I've shared my new favorite things, so here you go!

* Almond milk with cranberry crunch cereal. Really cereal in general is one of my favorite things this pregnancy, but adding the almond milk just puts it at the top of my list!

* homemade strawberry jam. I got a jar today from a student at church. Yummy!

* the farmers market. I love not only buying local and supporting our farmers, but also just the atmosphere of the market. I enjoy the experience of going and deciding what to get week to week.

* pedicures. I have one coming with a gift card I got for mothers day and I am so excited about it. Bending over to do it myself is just about out of the question these days.

* garage sales. I think it might be an official addiction. When I see a sign, it's as if my van has a mind of it's own and just starts veering in the direction of the sale...I need one of those "I brake for garage sale" bumper stickers to warn people following me!

* decluttering, organizing, selling. I am in full nesting mode, ladies & gentlemen. Let me at those closets, drawers and well, entire rooms! I MUST organize. It's almost as bad as the garage sale obsession. And watch out craigslist, soon you will be saturated with posts from me! Anyone needing a couch, tea table, love seat, coffee table or winter jackets? Wish I would've thought about selling all this BEFORE I had a garage sale! I think someone is buying our desk tomorrow, so that's a start!

* My husband, my son & my baby! I don't know if it's hormones or what, but wow, I am SO in love with them all I could burst. I have literally gotten teary putting Isaac to bed just telling him how much I love him. I feel like I should be on a Lifetime movie or something.

* uninterrupted sleep. It rarely happens anymore, but when it does. WOW.

* one-on-one 'dates' with my students. These are my favorite part of my job. I just started mentoring a girl for profession of faith. What should've taken about 1 hour took 2.5. We were on a roll talking about a huge spectrum of faith related topics. I look forward to the summer when I get to do a lot of this.

* speaking of summer schedules, one of my favorite things right now is relaxed Sundays. I love being able to actually go to church with my family and not have to be there early. I love having a relaxing afternoon where I can sneak in a nap. I love nothing in the evenings when I can truly rest and spend time with my family. Ahhh sabbath!

And there you have it, folks. My favorites.

naptime today

12 weeks

12 weeks til baby yo-yo makes an appearance (hoping for 11, but more likely 13).

12 weeks to hopefully get Isaac potty trained.

12 weeks til Marc starts student teaching.

12 weeks to switch all the bedrooms around.

12 weeks to finish my stash of cloth diapers & figure out how the heck to use them!

12 weeks to figure out how to pay for Marc's LAST semester.

12 weeks to crochet a blanket for baby yo-yo (that reminds me...I still need to finish Isaac's & my nephew, Simons! I'm such a crocheting slacker!)

12 weeks til our Korean sons will be back.

12 weeks to figure out fall semesters for youth group & recruit some new leaders.

12 weeks to enjoy more time with Marc and Isaac.

12 weeks to hopefully get the house a bit more organized. Yes, nesting has begun.

12 weeks til you all find out if baby yo-yo is a boy or a girl! :)

Sabbath & Study

Today is maybe my first 'real' feeling sabbath in quite a while. I don't have any open houses to go to, no youth group activities, we aren't hanging out with anyone today and are truly just relaxing and enjoying our family time. I cherish days like these!

This summer Marc and I are attempting to be more intentional in our faith lives together. We are beginning a study called "What's the Difference? Manhood and Womanhood Defined According to the Bible." by John Piper. It's a DVD/study series that we will hopefully be spending time doing together each day. The goal is to watch the DVD and do the 'group study questions' together after Isaac goes to bed on Sunday evenings. There are 5 daily studies/questions that we are going to do each day from 2-3pm. I'm really looking forward to reconnecting with Marc on this level and hopefully bring some insight and clarity to our roles in our marriage. I'll try to do a review of the study and what we are learning every once in a while!

Yummy!

I had my glucose test this morning before my doc appointment. Is that orange drink yummy or what? I actually wish I had been given a choice - last time I had the 'cola' flavor and it wasn't nearly as bad. I'm hoping I pass!

I am 28 weeks and officially in 3rd trimester! The doc thinks I had food poisioning earlier this week & not the flu, based on what I told him. And he seemed all the more certain after I told him I had gone to 2 open houses on Sunday. Hmm. I wonder which Senior is the culprit!

He also limited my weight gain for the next 12 weeks to 10lbs. I had a better month than last month, but overall have gained 22lbs so far. He wondered out loud if I had possibly gotten late onset gestational diabetes with Isaac which is why he was so big. That makes a bit of sense as I measured right on with him up until the last month or so. It could've been that or maybe the immense amount of sweets I'm sure I ate around the holiday season...I guess we'll never know.

Anyhow, I'm waiting til next week to see if I passed and in the meantime pretending I might have GD and going to be even more intentional about my eating habits. Either way, making healthier choices is good for both baby yo-you and me. Feel free to slap my hand if you see it holding something my doc would scold me for. You have my permission!

Life since vacation

We've been back for a little over a week and it's been quite the whirlwind! Neighborhood garage sale last week (I was on the committee), Sang's graduation, Sang leaving, catching up on work, graduation open houses...whew! Then Monday I woke up sick and spent the day laid up on the couch inbetween running to the bathroom to throw up. Yesterday was a big better, and today I actually worked and ate something other than saltines. It is amazing how much worse having the flu is when you're 27 weeks pregnant and have a big belly to get in the way of heaving over the porclain!
Other than that we're trying to get into a routine a bit more, but now Marc's work is super busy and he might be working late every night for the next few weeks, along with working Saturday's. We can certainly use the overtime, but it's harder to wake up daddy at 8am when he works til 3 or 4am. :(
Young leaves on Saturday leaving us with an empty house up until the fall when 1, maybe 2 Korean boys move back in, we have a baby & Marc starts student teaching. The calm before the storm. A good storm, but a storm none the less.
Speaking of our Korean sons...Young will be moving back in come fall. We have had 2 other boys request us as their host parents. I'm not quite sure what to do. Pros of hosting 2: extra income when Marc won't be able to work as much, having 2 isn't a whole lot more work than 1 just extra dishes & food to buy, it might be nice for young to have a 2nd high school student in the home - in fact he said he would prefer it. Cons: more dishes & food to buy, they would share a room so we would be packed tight upstairs, not sure how either boy would fit into the family while Young has already lived with us & we know him.
Oh, and we have to essentially make this decision by tomorrow.
Advice?
