This has been a common scene over the last few weeks. Isaac will start to play on his own & start singing to himself. This time I finally had a camera nearby to catch it on video. Makes his mama's heart just melt!

Grandma's birthday!
My only living grandparent, Grandma Zuidema, turned 95 on Saturday. Isaac and I went with my parents to Chicago for the day to celebrate. The original plan was to eat at Culvers (at Grandmas request!), but she later changed it to the Omega house. Isaac was excited for a 'birthday party' and kept randomly bursting out in 'Happy Birthday to you' on the car ride down.
I sneakily told our waitress that it was Grandma's birthday, so the whole staff came out with a cake and sang to her. I wasn't sure if she would appreciate that or not, but she had a HUGE smile on her face when they surrounded her in song. It was quite beautiful.
We spent a little time in Grandma's room and took some family pictures. My Grandpa DeBeer died before I was born, my Grandma DeBeer died when I was two, my Grandpa Zuidema died when I was six, so this is the only grandparent I've ever really had a relationship with. Our relationship has been limited to birthday cards, a phone call once or twice a year and a visit one or two times a year as well. Even though it's not been the type of relationship that my son will have with his grandparents, it has still been a loving one, and I cherish the time I had with her on Saturday. At 95, I keep wondering if this could be my last time to see her, if she will ever meet baby #2, how long she will stay healthy, etc. She's still as sharp as a nail and doing well, so I'm hopeful, but I don't want to take time for granted either.
Marc has decided he would like to interview my Grandma. Think of the things she has seen in her 95 years...how fascinating would it be to sit and listen to her tell stories of her perspective on historical events or hear about my great-grandparents and what they were like. I hope we're able to make that happen!
Happy Birthday Grandma!

20 down, 20 to go
As of Friday, I will be 20 weeks. I have my US tomorrow morning & am praying to see a healthy baby on the screen. I am hoping we'll find out the gender, but more than anything else, I just want to see that baby is developing well and on track. I still have so many fears about things not being okay.
I'm also getting my first stash of cloth diapers tomorrow. I bought 17 used off craigslist. 13 BumGenius 3.0 and 4 each of a different brand. I'm also getting 2 wetbags & a stack of wipes. They were only used for 6 months & the mom gave up on cloth diapering cause her husband didn't want to do it. I have no idea what to do with them once I have them, but doing some research and trying to figure it all out.

Craig's list Junkie
I am patiently waiting for garage sale season to get into full swing, and until then, Craig's list has become a well visited site on this computer. What can I say? I cannot pass up an opportunity to look for a good deal. I've got a handful of items on my 'to buy' list that I am almost daily searching Criag'slist for. Thought I'd throw them out there for my blog buddies in case you happen to catch a sale around you that might have what I'm looking for. Feel free to leave a comment of what you're hoping to find too, cause like I said, I'm on CL or stopping by Goodwill for sure weekly.
1. Cloth Diapers. I may have actually found my first stash on CL. We're in negotiations right now.
2. Maternity cloths. In particular short sleeved size L. My sis & 2 great friends have loaned me their maternity stuff, but they're all quite a bit smaller than me. I can pull off some of it right now, but in the heat of the summer at 8-9 months, I'm pretty sure I'll be needing some Larges.
3. Toy Box. I'm sure Marc would love to build one of these someday, but we don't really have the tools or time that he needs. I'm looking for a wooden one specifically.
4. Large rug for Isaac's room. Blue, green, yellow, natural colors...whatever. Just not pink, red or orange.
Okay people, what do you need that I can look for??

Found some film
My nephew Simon Cole. What a cutie!
December 30, 2009. Found out I was pregnant after inviting my friend Allison over for a drink. My cycles were still messed up from the miscarriage, so I thought I might be late but had already taken 2 tests & they were negative! Decided to take just one more before I enjoyed a nice, cold, adult beverage and what do you know? Positive! Allison got there a few minutes later to me standing in my kitchen crying, saying "um, I think I'm pregnant!". :) I wrapped up the test in a box, wrapped it with blue & pink ribbon and left it under the tree for Marc. I texted him to tell him I had forgotten a Christmas gift for him & it would be waiting under the tree when he got home. He already had a suspision from the text, but the blue & pink ribbon confirmed it!

Oma & Opa stopped over on Isaac's birthday to give him a present. He wouldn't take those glasses off all night! What a ham!
